“Excelentes vistas , la privacidad y la tranquilidad hacen la diferencia”
The views, breakfast, and especially the staff’s attention—Regi, Vanisse, Gabriel, Douglas, and Kari—were fantastic. The mattress could be firmer.

Vanessa was great. The transport to the mainland was unfriendly, the staff was rude, the flies in the breakfast, and bugs in the shower.

We really enjoyed our stay at Asalem. The property gives you a true island experience — peaceful, authentic, and surrounded by nature. It really felt like we were experiencing the real Ilha Grande rather than staying at a typical hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we were very pleasantly surprised to receive an upgrade to the better room simply because it was available. It was such a nice gesture and made our stay even more special. We also loved the atmosphere of the property. It has a very warm, personal feeling and almost feels like a family-run business, which made us feel comfortable and well taken care of. One of our biggest surprises was the breakfast. We expected a fairly small selection given how intimate and remote the property is, but the breakfast was actually very good and had plenty of options. Overall, Asalem was a lovely experience and we would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and peaceful stay on Ilha Grande. There are a few things to keep in mind. The property is not newly renovated, and while almost everything is generally in good condition, it does not have that fresh, recently renovated feel. The sheets could also have felt a little fresher, although the towels were perfectly fine. The beach is about a five-minute walk through the jungle. This was not a problem for us, and we actually enjoyed the short walk, but the path is quite rocky and can be slippery in places, so it might be less convenient for someone looking for an easy, comfortable walk to the beach. The beach itself was nice, but by the end of the day the water was noticeably less clean because of the number of boats in the area. We also didn’t have the best weather during our stay, so we didn’t swim much. In late August, the water felt quite cold to us and wasn’t particularly comfortable for swimming. Overall, these were relatively minor drawbacks for us and did not take away too much from the unique experience of staying at Asalem

The welcome was friendly. The room was relatively small for 3 people, we had 1 day of rain and there were water leaks in some places of the ceiling, we didn’t have hot water at one point, the place is well located but only reachable by boat and only at certain times, otherwise you have to go on foot but it’s a bit more complicated, I rate the stay as average in this place, if I were to do it again I would choose a spot closer to Abrão.

Location is good. The place is dated, but it had its charm. The price, however, is too high.
