The shared living area was very comfortable. However, the directions from the nearest bus stop were confusing for first‑timers, and the entrance to the lodging was unclear. I had to change clothes in the washroom before the bath, and since I was alone that day it was fine, but there was no key to worry about. The bathroom also had no key.

I appreciated that this place felt like a genuine guest house, where you’re welcomed into a cozy home. The hostess was warm and friendly right from the start. All guests enjoyed delicious morning and evening meals that were freshly made daily and matched the season’s local market produce. Getting here was easy by car, thanks to on‑site parking, or by public transit. It served as a perfect home away from home for exploring the west and north parts of the city, in a relaxed neighborhood with a nice local bar and izakaya within walking distance. I looked forward to returning each evening after sightseeing to relax with other guests and the wonderful hostess/proprietor. It’s off the typical tourist path, offering a real slice of daily life through great food and excellent company. Nothing negative—just don’t expect a downtown Hilton; it’s a clean, cozy, no‑frills guest home with shared bathrooms in a relatively quiet part of a big city. The owner kindly explained how to reach nearby tourist spots and gave thorough directions, which I appreciated. The bed was very comfortable, allowing me to sleep in until late in the morning and recover from the previous day’s fatigue. Tea and dessert service were also satisfying. I will definitely use this place again on my next visit to Kyoto. There were no complaints.

Ikuko is an extraordinary lady. Her welcome is extremely kind, her attention delicate, her conversational taste unparalleled, and her laugh enchanting. I spent a wonderful week at her place. The guest house is comfortable, and she serves an excellent and varied breakfast each day. It’s located in a quiet neighborhood of narrow streets and small houses, well connected by many buses, trains, and trams. Many shops are just a 10‑minute walk along the route to and from the city center. Everything is perfect.

The place was super quiet, no noise at all. Everything went fine during my stay, except that the room didn't have a key. After check‑out, I didn’t receive any message about a mix‑up with the next guest’s luggage, so I think that was the only issue.
