“Excitement turned to disappointment.”
Plenty of things to do relatively close to the property. Fishing, hiking, sight seeing. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights and the forecast called for copious amounts of rain. Which didn’t bother us, until insane amounts of water began to squelch up from between the floor boards and leaking in through the main door. We debunked that the water source was in fact not just from the rain, but also rapidly grew worse as we used the kitchen sink barely into our first 24hours. Stuck wearing shoes at all times or forced to have soggy cold feet. The dome is not sealed well. While in the wooded hillsides, bugs are not surprising. Until a spider big enough to take out a small bird gets cozy with you in bed. Not to mention other alarming amounts of insects somehow getting in. The main bed is VERY firm and low to the ground. It is also adjacent to the glass door to enter/exit. Said door has facets for a curtain rod, but no rod, and no curtain. So between an aching back and the early morning light, sleep was not satisfactory in the slightest. Not including how loud the traffic sounds when inside the dome at 6am. The coffee maker is a nespresso machine, and the pods were not restocked. Nor does the local grocery store carry them. We made use of some instant coffee that a previous visitor had left. The deck is not seated fully on its stair-side concrete posts. It’s rested ATOP poured concrete, not IN. It is visibly only halfway sitting on the concrete. The driveway up is very steep and it is gravel. 4WD is definitely a requirement. The amenities are misleading to a degree and cooking was quite the hassle to do on a single burner hot plate. Definitely not a “cook a romantic dinner” kitchen. Simple meals only kind of route. The local scenery? 10/10. Our time in the property? 2/10. This was not worth $240 a night. Especially not when the same issues are previously written in a check-in book inside and reviewed across booking and vrbo
