“Gut und Freundlich. Preis-/Leistung für uns "SEMI".”
Overall, we found the hotel and our stay to be good. We liked the friendly reception and the feeling of being welcomed. We didn’t particularly enjoy the fact that there were some renovation works—especially in the dining area/ breakfast. That area should be thoroughly cleaned and repainted. Since we work in real estate, we notice the little things very quickly.
“Excellent”
The room was elegant and well appointed
“A 3 star dressed up as a 4.”
The location was good—close to Harder Kulm rail, Coop, and on the main street, but that’s about as good as it gets. A lot of issues. First, when you’re paying over $1000 a night for a ‘5‑star’ hotel you expect 5‑star. You’d rather pay up and stay at Victoria Jungfrau, which is a true 5‑star hotel—from the staff and attention to detail to the food and turndown service. This hotel is poorly staffed, which is part of the problem, and it doesn’t have an extensive in‑room dining menu or even a menu that caters to anyone else but Europeans. On a rainy day, forget grilled cheese and hot chocolate; you’re better off ordering UberEATS or going to Coop for the amazing rotisserie chicken. St George is a solid 3‑star trying to be a 4‑star.
I already knew about it.
“Komme wieder sobald das Hotel ein Facelift bekommen hat.”
The room and location were quite okay, but the hotel is clearly past its prime. We were lucky to stay in a renovated room, yet the reception hall felt like a mismatched collection of furniture, and the breakfast area was a catastrophe: tables, chairs, and the buffet were all unacceptable. For a 4‑star hotel in this area, the overall impression is unacceptable. My advice? Close it and do a total renovation.
