A charming place full of history. Clean facility. The walk to the rooms can be demanding for those who have difficulty walking.

“We left after one night”

The view was a highlight, but we had a very disappointing experience at Castello Malicas and left after the first night even though we had booked four nights. Communication was poor before we arrived. We got there around midnight and no host was present, which would have been fine if we had clear instructions. We struggled to find the entrance and parking and found six different key boxes, with no clue which one held our key. With very slow responses from the host, we had to try all six after a long journey. The biggest problem was the room: it was poorly cleaned, with visible mould, dirty marks on the walls—some looking like blood stains—and animal hair in the room. I’m allergic to animal hair and had trouble breathing. There were several dogs and cats around the property, and their barking and meowing kept us awake all night. The host was also unhelpful when we needed assistance. Even a simple question about where we might still buy water late at night couldn’t be answered. I messaged to cancel breakfast and didn’t receive a reply until the afternoon, by which time we had already left. After that first night, we decided we weren’t comfortable staying for the remaining three nights and booked another hotel at our own expense. What disappointed me almost as much as the accommodation itself was the complete lack of concern afterwards. The property asked if we had left, but after I confirmed that we had, nobody asked why we had left three nights early or responded to the issues I reported. I cannot recommend this accommodation. Better communication and hospitality would have helped, but the cleanliness, mould and animal hair were ultimately the main reasons we felt we couldn’t stay.

“It is a castle, though a small one.”

We really enjoyed our stay at Castello Malicas in Galtelli. From the moment we arrived, everything was straightforward and the property was exactly what we were hoping for. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and full of character, and it was very easy to access. We also found the parking particularly simple, which was a real bonus, especially when travelling by car. For future guests, a few things we particularly recommend in nearby Orrosei are Riva al Bar at Osala Beach, Ristorante Pasta Pasta and Bar Domus Caffè. There is free street parking at bottom of property. All in all, Castello Malicas was a great base for exploring the surrounding area and driving down the east coast. It's clean, well located, easy to get to and has the added benefit of straightforward parking. We would happily stay here again and would definitely recommend Castello Malicas to anyone visiting Galtelli. We were not able to connect to wifi with password coming up as incorrect. The hosts never replied to our WhatsApp messages
