The room was already heated when we arrived, the manager was on site to answer questions, and the cafe and bar, though not yet open, looked impressive. The hotel is right next to the Portage Resort. The owner gave us a lift to the next saddle at Mistletoe Bay to avoid a steep climb because my knee was bothering me, so we only walked half a day. Everyone was helpful and friendly.

The owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the bonus was that she upgraded us to a cabin‑type accommodation instead of a room—thanks, Paula. I didn’t see any faults.
