“Hotel in need of updating as has so much potential.”
The hotel sits in a good spot, though it takes a 15–20 minute walk into the main town. Being on the quieter end worked well for us, but the uphill walk back could be tough for elderly or mobility‑limited guests. It’s right on the beach, but you have to descend old steel ladder‑style steps, which was fine for us but might not suit everyone. Next door is a great Reggae Bar that served tasty drinks and food, worth a visit. The beach offers activities, and when the tide’s out you can stroll across the sand to lively bars and clubs, which was a blast. We booked two double rooms with private pools. The rooms were clean and well presented, yet they looked a bit tired and could use a refresh—especially since we paid for a private pool room, this was the most disappointing part. The hotel’s entertainment was decent; we laughed with the team, but I’d rather have gone to the livelier nearby bars. Breakfast was lovely, with a wide selection that suited everyone. Overall, we enjoyed the stay. The quiet location, private pools, beach access and nearby bars were all great, but a room update would make the hotel even better. On the downside, the en‑suite bathroom in our second room was disappointing—unclean, with cockroaches and flies, and the waste/drainage system seemed faulty, causing blocked toilets during our stay. The issue was fixed the next morning, but there’s no 24‑hour reception, so after about 9 pm staff are scarce. Given the price of the private pool rooms, the hotel needs investment and refurbishment. The metal ladder‑style steps to the beach should be replaced with wide concrete steps to improve safety for older guests, families with kids, and anyone with limited mobility. Despite these problems, we still enjoyed many aspects of the stay, and with updates, better cleanliness, and facility investment, it could become a lovely hotel.
