The bed’s comfort, mattress, and pillows were the highlight, and the location is only a 10‑minute walk to town or the lower gardens, with parking working fine. On the second night I pulled back the duvet and found mouldy sheets; after reporting it, staff replaced them. The lodge, an older detached building, looked run down and dated, but it was acceptable for a budget weekend; staff did their jobs but weren’t especially warm or friendly.
