The hotel feels like a museum with a Portuguese‑German vibe; breakfast is great and it’s right near the metro and bus stops. The only downside is there’s no lift, so you’re stuck with stairs.

Pretty building and stairs, nicely decorated. Lots of stairs. Checking in was confusing with the two hotels. Our room smelled bad, but we were only there 2 days so carried on

The location was delightful and the setting fantastic, with a varied and plentiful breakfast; I highly recommend it and had no complaints, everything exceeded my expectations.

Breakfast is full. It’s a short walk to Bairro Alto, Baixa, and Chiado, and the tram 28/24 stop and metro stops are 1–2 blocks away. You can get to the airport and train station easily by metro. Buy tram/metro passes at the stations. Check‑in is a separate location around the corner from the hotel, so have both addresses ready! That spot has a spa with a complimentary dry sauna, dunking pool, and showers, but you need a reservation. The spa also offers massages and treatments for a fee. Dinner and the Fado show were worth it. The hotel’s interior is beautiful, old, and eclectic. Signage isn’t very obvious, so you need to know the check‑in location ahead of time; off‑hours check‑in could be an issue.

The rooms are nice, breakfast is good, staff are friendly, the air conditioning is very quiet, and the windows keep street noise out. Unfortunately, all the sofa pillows in the room were very stained.
