“Little more than a glorified, over-priced youth hostel”

We were assigned a basement room without carpet and a window overlooking an indoor car park; when we asked for a different room, the staff replied, “that’s what you booked,” and added, “you booked through a third party,” implying that booking through a third party meant we shouldn’t expect a decent room. We found online that other rooms were still available, but the receptionist said she couldn’t move us because it was up to her manager, who wasn’t present. After more than an hour of discussion, the initially reluctant receptionist, who had insisted she was unable to do anything, finally relocated us to a very pleasant room with a sea view, for which we were grateful. We left feeling that Juneau takes its visitors for granted—most being cruise passengers who need an overnight stay before boarding—charges unreasonable rates, and treats them as numbers rather than guests. It’s a pity because the town is lovely, but the hotel experience made us feel unwelcome and like cash cows for a business that seems to have little interest in investing in customer care or comfort.

“Very comforatable stay in the middle of Juneau with free parking.”

The location in Juneau is excellent, and free on‑site parking is a big plus; having a restaurant on the premises is also convenient. The rooms feel a bit dated, and the whole hotel could benefit from a small facelift and general upgrade, but everything was clean and comfortable.

“Disappointing”

Our room was spacious and clean, but there was no hot water, so we had to take a cold shower. The lobby area was too small to wait for rides.
