The spot is amazing! The hot baths in the basement are great to use any time, the room was comfy and super clean. It was one of the cheaper options I found, and it sits right across from Akakura Kanko, which is awesome because you don’t have to drive to ski or take the shuttle bus (the bus is a hassle with crowds and waiting in line). It didn’t bother us, but they keep the heat down outside the rooms (which I totally get). The staff were nice and pleasant, but not always helpful if you don’t speak Japanese (again, I understand), and they’re not on site all the time.

The traditional Japanese lodge was lovely, made fantastic by the staff. The rooms are very comfortable and the shared facilities were nice. It’s excellent value for the area, and the location is amazing—just 100 m from the Kanko gondola. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic, helping us when local trains were cancelled, providing lovely meals with a smile, and making sure everything we needed was provided. Be aware this is a traditional ryokan with shared facilities (toilets, sinks, onsen) all outside the room.
