The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was delicious with a good coffee selection. The restaurant offered a nice variety of seafood, with the octopus standing out. Daily activities added a nice touch, and the pool area was lovely and relaxing.

This quirky hostel had a fantastic pool, bar, activities, guest DJs, and a cool gym. The room came with a hairdryer, towels, and decent air‑con. Despite island‑wide power cuts that hit us here, the generator was enough to restore electricity, air‑con, and water. The staff were warm, welcoming, and very helpful. The bed felt a bit firmer than usual, but that’s just a personal preference. Sun‑beds at the pool often stayed with their towels for hours after use instead of being cleaned, which caused delays for others.

I can’t recommend this place enough! Staying at Hostel 197 feels like home. The staff are wonderful, the facilities excellent, the food tasty, and Asha the dog stole the show—she was absolutely adored.

The location was central and easy to get around. Socially lively, the staff were friendly, and the common areas were nice. Breakfast was not filling, frequent power outages shut off the air‑con, and the price was relatively high.

I really enjoyed my time at Hostel 197! The tropical vibe was gorgeous, and I loved the interior, pool area, beach beds, and of course the adorable dog. Asha was super friendly and welcoming, and all the staff were kind and helpful. Overall, it was a lovely, relaxing experience.
