“Hostal mediocre sin completar”

The hostel was close to the plaza, but they added a currency‑exchange fee that I didn’t expect, claiming it was their personal rate. They had forgotten about us and said we had no reservation, so the hostel was unfinished. I was given a double room but only used one bed. The shower had no hot water, the toilet had no water, and after checking out I couldn’t return in an hour because there was no staff to let me back in.

The room was comfortable enough and the location was perfect—just one block from Plaza de Armas—and the staff were initially friendly. However, the hotel’s staff are usually not on site and they don’t give a key for independent access, so you must inform them each time you leave, which felt awkward. On my second day, when I returned at the time I’d told them, no one was there; I waited about 20 minutes, losing a 40‑soles transport and delaying my trip by a day. The staff showed no interest when I reported this, even though they advertise a 24‑hour reception on a huge sign at the front. Hot water didn’t work on either night. Also, a large portion of my room’s door was glass, so when someone turned on the light outside at 5 am, I was woken up. The place felt more like a conventional house with no sound isolation between rooms.

I was told that I could only enter the accommodation when the owners were present, roughly after 18:00, and if I arrived earlier I had to wait—up to an hour in front of the door in my case.

“Bonito lugar para pasar unos días en Urubamba”

I loved how comfortable the room was and how close it is to the Plaza de Armas of Urubamba and the market; the staff were always friendly. Highly recommended.
