I liked everything. Great location: the guest house is right in the center of the old town. Very hospitable host Farid, always in touch, will show you everything, tell you everything, help however he can, and treats every guest with warmth and care. We fell in love with Baku all over again thanks to Farid.

I was thrilled with the top spot—just 5 minutes to the U‑bahn and 10 to the center, plenty of eateries nearby, and my room was spotless and smelled great. On the downside, ants crawled around, so I couldn’t really eat; the bathroom floor stayed dirty; the walls were thin and we kept hearing the neighbor; the owner kept trying to approach me, which felt odd for a woman; Google Maps gave a different route; and the AC smelled weird, so it probably needed cleaning or a change.

The place sits right in the old walled town, the room was cozy with a comfy bed and plenty of storage, the owner was genuinely kind and helpful, and the kitchen facilities were solid—couldn’t have asked for more.

If you want to dive into authentic Baku, pick this spot: simple, comfy, cozy, great location. The owner, Farid, is a character, like the spirit of the old town, and he’ll show you things you’d otherwise miss. Just be careful—you might want to stay longer 😂
