“Disappointing Experience for a Family”
The motel was clean. I booked this motel because it advertised a two‑bedroom unit, the only option that night that fit our family’s needs. We needed a separate bedroom for our child, who doesn’t sleep well sharing a room with us. The motel also offered a family room with multiple beds in one room, but that wasn’t suitable for us. At check‑in, the receptionist asked if I had children, and after I answered honestly, I was told I couldn’t stay in the two‑bedroom unit, even though I had already paid. I was accused of giving misleading information on the booking application and spoken to in a way I found unnecessarily rude, confrontational, and condescending. I explained why we booked that unit and, given how the situation was handled, offered to cancel and find another place. I was told the booking was non‑refundable, leaving me in the difficult position of having paid for a room I was denied access to. Eventually, I was offered the alternative family room, which I appreciate, but it wasn’t the accommodation we had specifically booked to meet our child’s sleeping needs. We had a very difficult night. Although an alternative room was eventually provided, this does not excuse how the situation was handled. I felt treated unfairly because I was traveling with a child, and the receptionist/manager’s attitude made the experience particularly unpleasant. The interaction felt discriminatory and entirely unnecessary, especially since I had booked and paid for the accommodation in good faith. Unfortunately, this experience left me very disappointed, and I would not stay at this motel again.
