“Beautiful secluded resort.”
The western breakfast was excellent, even though it came with a salad and soup that we never would eat for breakfast back in the US, and the soup itself was delicious. It was really nice to have someone come and prepare the food in our room, which we enjoyed. Every room had a hot tub and a sauna, but there was a large communal hot tub that cost 10000 yen for an hour; we were one of only two guests on the property, traveling together, and for what we were paying per night I think that communal hot tub and sauna should have been included. The staff were extremely accommodating, even doing laundry for us, and the resort had all the vibes of an eco‑friendly property. The downside was that the bed was as hard as a rock, so I woke up with back pain both mornings. The location is remote, so you either eat on site or pay 5000 yen for a cab into town, which is very quiet at night; a complimentary shuttle would be nice. Also, any trip up the mountain costs over $100 one way, while the bus from town is cheaper but requires you to get into town first.
