Juntai Hotel Xiamen

The place is right in the middle of the action – just a mile and a half from the expo center and a quick 15‑minute drive to the airport. There's a restaurant and a bar, but the staff are all Chinese and can't speak a word of English, so if you're a European it can feel a bit out of place. The bar looks stocked with a lot of bottles, but you only get wine and beer – the rest are just look‑alikes. Breakfast is basically an Asian menu; there's nothing for us Europeans, and dinner is the same story.

The staff were friendly and the room had all the gadgets – even an electronic toilet – and the elevator was quick. The downside? Breakfast was bland and had nothing of Xiamen flavor. The gym's machines were pretty basic, but for the price it was acceptable. Ordering take‑out was a nightmare – it had to be picked up in a hot, empty underground lot, and the robot that delivered it took over 20 minutes and nobody seemed to watch it outside rush hours.

The front desk people were friendly and polite, and the housekeeping staff were courteous and thorough.

This hotel was a real treat – the staff were welcoming, the spot was perfect with cafés, shops, and banks all around, and the expo center was just a five‑minute taxi ride. The receptionist spoke English, which made things smoother, and she even arranged taxis and wrote a note to the driver in Chinese. The rooms were modern and the view from the windows was amazing.

The breakfast buffet was huge and plenty of options. A couple of spots nearby – a Shaanxi restaurant and a halal Northwest beef noodle place – were easy to find.
