The grounds are beautiful and immaculate. The layout offers lots of privacy. Excellent. Food is okay, not 5‑star; breakfasts are great! Need great wine—I tried 3, all terrible. Loved the service.

The location is beautiful and there are plenty of free or paid activities on or near the property. The breakfast could have been more like a coffee shop instead of being included.

Sleeping Giant is beautifully landscaped and quiet. The staff throughout the resort went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable. As a lone woman traveller, I felt very safe and comfortable both at the resort and on the trails.

My friend and I stayed for one night while driving between locations in Belize. The grounds are gorgeous, meticulously maintained, with trickling brooks, fountains, elegant lighting, and multiple paths weaving among lush plants and flowers, giving a sense of privacy and immersion in tropical beauty. Don’t forget mosquito repellent. The room matched the photos: dark‑wood cabinets line the hallway, a mini‑fridge is present, a large king bed with crisp sheets and a white duvet, and a spacious bathroom with plenty of towels and an absorbent shower that has a long ledge. The rainfall showerhead was a bit weak but functional. A warm plunge pool/spa and a lounge sofa sit on the large outdoor balcony overlooking the river and jungle. The entrance features stepping stones over a pond (chlorine in a cement basin) that continue on the other side of the entrance corridor wall, possibly usable as another plunge pool—a small 3.5‑ft‑deep area for 1–2 people to stand in if desired. This area is accessed from the bathroom, an outdoor patio with another lounge area, and an outdoor shower; I didn’t use the shower but it was impressive. Wi‑Fi was good, and the A/C in the main space worked well. We explored the short hikes on site; the hike up to the gazebo had a slight incline, and I was huffing and puffing at the end, but the view from the gazebo platforms was beautiful and the breeze refreshing. The restaurant was lovely, with beautifully presented and delicious food. It is a pricey stay, naturally. The bathroom lacks A/C, so it was warm and humid. The remote location up a mountain means there are no off‑site restaurants or stores nearby. Reception is extremely friendly but not very efficient; another person working there would speed up check‑in. The parking lot is a bit far from reception and the rooms, so guests are encouraged to stop at reception to unload bags before heading down to the guest parking lot. There aren’t any actual parking spaces at reception; the vehicle of the first guest blocks the lane, preventing later guests from parking. Having a staff member there to encourage guests to pull forward and another to help unload/deliver bags would help. Both the balcony plunge pool and the backyard pool were filled with warm water. I soaked in the plunge pool that night, which felt good after hiking, but it was too hot and humid outside to enjoy a plunge during the day. There was a nice pool onsite that may have been more refreshing, but I didn’t have time to swim in it. None of the accommodations at this resort offer more than one bed; the small futon bed was hard and uncomfortable. The short on‑site hikes were not well maintained as they could have been.
