Everything about the Casia Lodge and Ranch felt welcoming and inviting. We went there for our first kid‑free vacation in five years and we loved it. The hotel is luxurious in an understated, cozy way; it’s beautiful but still true to its ranch roots. The food is incredible, the hot tub under the bright stars is relaxing, and the theater room is great after a day outside.

It’s in a great spot facing the high desert all around. The world’s loudest air conditioning is a problem, but they do leave ear‑plugs out for you.

The location and surrounding views are peaceful, rooms and pool area are nice, and it has rustic charm. However, the facilities are very poor for a hotel listed as “best small hotels of the world”. No tea or coffee in the room; the dining room’s supply lost its appeal during the day and wasn’t refreshed unless you could find someone to ask. Breakfast was very poor, with no simple choices like cereal or toast, or plain croissants, and the only eggs available were stone‑cold boiled eggs. Showers had shampoo and lotion but no shower gel. These are things you’d expect in a listed hotel.

The property was lovely and close to Highway 20, making it a convenient stop on the Cascades Loop, and the dining experience was excellent, though I wish the pool had been heated.

I loved the gorgeous presentation and the wide range of food offered, but the King balcony room was missing a chair and soap by the sink, and my partner was let down by the lack of a TV for football.
