The beaches nearby are gorgeous, the golf courses are decent, and the locals are genuinely friendly. I’d go back for the charm despite the lack of modern comforts.

The place turned out to be a huge disappointment: the cabin was advertised as clean and functional, yet it was filthy, the windows wouldn’t close, there was no hot water or blankets, and the staff never showed up when we needed help. We waited an hour before anyone appeared, and the owner never returned our calls, even after we tried repeatedly. At $170 a night we got a cold, drafty shack with no view and a lot of excuses about the long weekend.

We weren’t sure what to expect from the online photos, but the property actually exceeded them – it’s full of character, the staff are welcoming, everything is spotless, and there’s a fully stocked kitchen just down the hall. The grounds are lined with ancient pine trees and cute summer cabins, which made the stay feel special. The only downside was the water near the beach getting pretty weedy once you swim out a bit, which put a damper on the otherwise nice waterfront.

The cabin has an authentic feel and sits right by the river, which was a big plus. However, the management was a mess – we were told the kitchen wasn’t equipped, so we brought our own dishes and pots, only to discover later that the kitchen was fully stocked, making the whole situation confusing.

The location is fantastic, tucked away enough to be super quiet at night, and the staff are incredibly friendly and always ready to help. It made for a very pleasant stay overall.
