The hotel sits above a cake and coffee shop and is close to a museum, bus station, and temple. The staff were friendly and the air conditioning excellent. However, the bathroom and shower had intermittent temperature and flow, the stairwell to the room looked grim, there was no seating on the roof terrace, and the balcony wasn’t accessed from the bedroom.

I really liked this spot: Gorkha isn’t huge, but the hotel is only 50 m from the bus stop; the room is great, with a balcony and a roof terrace, and Bharti, the owner, and Rubina, the girl at the cafe, are lovely and helpful. A large hotel nearby, under the same ownership, offers great food and a valley view. If you’re climbing the 1500 steps up to the Palace on the mountain summit, there are coffee and water stops all the way up.

The first contact was really good, but the waitress was a bit strange at times, probably because she’s young.

I stayed at a straightforward place that was perfectly situated, spotlessly clean, and the staff were extremely helpful, offering great value for the price.
