I booked the family room in the house. From the moment I entered, I noticed the tasteful classic décor. The room was spacious and, like the bathroom, spotless. Self‑check‑in was easy, even though I booked just before arrival. The location is excellent; the historic town center, affordable restaurants, and small grocery stores are all within walking distance. The café across the street is worth a visit—generous portions and quite reasonable prices.

“The Malaysian Tax scam.”

Overall, the stay was fine. Facilities were adequate, but the microwave had been broken for a long time. The 10 MR/day tax charge per person for using a dormitory bed is wrong; I wasn’t charged that in a Kuala Lumpur hostel. Why is this fee being imposed? The owner can’t be paying the Malaysian Government 120 MR/day for full occupancy of the 12‑person dormitory I slept in. The government would only expect 10 MR/day per room, regardless of how many guests sleep there.

The location is very strategic, right in the heart of Georgetown. It’s easy to walk anywhere. The accommodation is clean, has an old‑school theme that feels cozy and relaxing, and the toilets are very clean and truly satisfying. For those on a tight budget, this place is highly recommended because of its reasonable prices. It’s perfect for travelers who want to stroll around Georgetown.
