“I can’t wait to go back! Two nights was not enough”
An absolutely amazing experience to stay in there; you really get to feel how it was and appreciate the beauty of the gold rush days. There is nothing negative – even with a shared bathroom I still loved it, and to dislike the way it works is to not fully appreciate the old times.
Barkerville’s whole vibe was amazing, and crashing at the St. George Hotel was the cherry on top. Everyone was super friendly, the décor was gorgeous, and I’d definitely recommend it.
Breakfast had loads of variety and changed up each day, plus they were great about food sensitivities. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we could grab water or coffee anytime and had a spot to rest. The only downside? The beds were a bit hard for us.
We loved the attention to detail, you really feel like you are traveling back in time. Ria is a lovely host and prepares a great breakfast. Staying right in the middle of Barkerville also has the advantage that you can still enjoy the town when most tourists have left for the day. All in all, a highly recommended experience!
