“Leuk!”

The vibe and location were great, the staff were friendly, and the food was good. Every evening there was live music. We had arranged a shuttle to the airport, but it was cancelled at the last minute and nothing was offered in its place.

I’m pointing out that there is no “Tuk tuk BOUTIQUE hotel”; it’s actually a hostel. At the same address across the street is the Ceylonlak Boutique Hotel, which is a different place. The reception at the tuk tuk hostel did not show our booking, and I couldn’t locate the reception of the Ceylonak.

A cute hostel that lets you book a room with a private bathroom. The on‑site restaurant is gorgeous, with live music that draws in a lot of locals. The shower water was cold, and the cleaning was passable but could be better. Breakfast cost about 2000 rupia per person at a nearby hotel.

We arrived in the middle of the night, having told the hotel beforehand. When we got there, the gate was shut and a night guard who didn’t speak any English was waiting. After two exhausting hours, someone finally came and directed us to the Blue Elephant hotel just around the corner. Both places are owned by the same person, but I’d have preferred they told us to go straight there instead of making us wait while we were too tired to sleep.
