The place was well situated and the lunch and dinner fare hit the mark. The room, however, felt stark, dark, very masculine and unwelcoming, with only sourdough toast at breakfast and no other options; a softer alternative would help. There were no biscuits in the room, but they could easily bake some in their own kitchen.

We had the most amazing time. The food was excellent, the design of the rooms is stylish and calming, and the people were all lovely. Askwith is an idyllic village and the walk down to the river was perfectly bucolic. That we couldn’t spend longer :)

The interior design of this stunning venue was spot‑on; if you value thoughtful design and eco‑friendly touches, you’ll be pleased. The meals were fresh, local, and delicious, supper was superb, and the cocktails were flawless. Our room was dark and tranquil, offering lovely views, and we earned plenty of brownie points with the fantastic wash products, free pantry, quality coffee, and scrumptious flapjacks. Service was friendly, and the pub’s location is ideal for exploring the scenery on foot. The only drawback is that rooms are very dark, so ladies may need to use the downstairs lounge for makeup, as it was impossible in the room.

Walking down to the river was a highlight, the dinner itself was superb, and the staff were incredibly friendly. We really enjoyed our rooms; the finish was top‑class. The only real let‑down was that there was no breakfast on either day we stayed, and we were told two days in advance that there would be no dinner on Monday, not realizing the entire place was closed – a real shame that took some of the charm away.

This place is genuinely lovely. The food is fabulous, and the staff were very attentive and helpful. It’s a great spot to stay when visiting Ilkley moor.
