The location can’t be beaten—literally above a tube/train station and within walking distance to theaters, pubs, Buckingham Palace, and more—and the historic building is beautiful; the only minor issue was that the pillows were too soft for our taste.

The hotel is beautiful and in a great spot; the room was spacious and well appointed, and the staff was excellent and extremely helpful, though my stay was too short.

I was blown away by the Victorian architecture and the breakfast spread—so many options in those beautiful rooms. The hotel’s central spot was perfect for exploring the city. I even got a birthday surprise with bubbles, cake, a balloon, and a handwritten note, which was a lovely touch. The only downside was that the rooms were a bit small; we had booked a twin but were given a double bed. The carpet had a slight odor at first, but the staff quickly swapped us into a different room and apologized, which was appreciated.

The hotel and staff were good, but the bedroom we were allocated had a bathroom without a walk‑in shower, making it difficult for us in our seventies to get in and out of the bath; there was also a sloping roof at one end of the bed that was dangerous to hit the head on when getting up at night.
