The setting was quiet in the midst of beautiful nature, the vibe was cozy and welcoming, the staff were attentive and always ready to help, the breakfast buffet was varied, and half‑board was also available. St. Jakob in the Defereggental is a great base for hikes and trips both nearby and across East Tyrol. We felt completely at home in the underground lifestyle hotel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, a generous breakfast buffet was offered, the balcony gave a lovely view of the opposite mountain peaks, and the value for money was reasonable.

The chef himself took care of us on the first evening, very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful, everything was new and modern. The downside was that breakfast started at 7:30 am; we probably could have gotten it earlier if we asked, and there were no sun‑shades in the outdoor spa area.
