The Courtyard, Laurel Farm

“We are frequent visitors to Lowestoft. The Courtyard is, by far, the best we have experienced.”

The room/lodge had everything you’d expect in a 5‑star hotel. Breakfast wasn’t included, but a fully equipped kitchen was available a few yards away. The only downside was the pebble road leading to the property, which was in very poor condition and full of potholes.

The setting was quiet and isolated, and the facilities and gear were excellent. The earlier reviews made me think they served breakfast, but that was misleading; Janet only offered cereals, so I had to find a nearby spot to eat.

“Welcoming and Caring staff and a quiet location”

I stayed in one of the smaller Courtyard units and Janet greeted me, making sure everything was explained and working properly. The fridge already had welcome milk, biscuits, tea, coffee, and other essentials, and with a hamper and a supermarket a mile away I never ran out of snacks. The only downside was the lack of cutlery or crockery, but that only added to the adventure. I brought my own fan because the heatwave made it essential to use mine a lot. The room was excellent and there were no interruptions during my break. Thanks for a very welcoming and hospitable place for a short holiday! (Don’t be put off by the potholes in the driveway – I’m from Cambridgeshire and used to them!) Wot! No kitchen sink? Never mind

“We had a lovely long weekend, Kevin and Janet are lovely hosts. Accommodation is lovely (twin room).”

No breakfast was offered, but there were plenty of local options. Because there was no breakfast, a better kitchen would have been nice.
