The chef/house manager Dumisani made our stay unpleasant, the house wasn’t clean, the bed sheets were dirty, we had to share the fridge with him so some of our food went to waste because he wouldn’t let us freeze our meat, and the owner was just as rude; we constantly felt unwelcome and treated poorly, so I do not recommend this house to anyone seeking a peaceful stay—DO NOT BOOK THERE!

Enough rooms. 1. They trapped us with old chairs to claim from our deposit 2. The swimming pool was very dirty, but we booked the place about a month ago. 3. We didn’t have electricity and network for part of our stay

We loved everything—the place is clean, the staff amazing, the chef made scrumptious meals, and we literally felt spoiled at Hillside Lodge; nothing negative.

The lodge had a nice view and was peaceful and quiet, but it could use some upgrades and general maintenance to keep up the standards; overall we enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and the chef, Dumisani, was skilled in the kitchen, making the personal chef experience a pleasant touch.

The house layout and atmosphere were phenomenal, especially with animals roaming around, and the chef added an amazing element to the holiday. The only downside was driving over rocky gravel to reach the property.
