Nothing to say positively. The property sits on a low slope and offers no personal parking. The staff were rude; the cook and other workers seemed clueless about communication, and if breakfast was included they demanded extra money. They appeared disoriented, issued incorrect bills for items we didn’t order, and seemed mentally unstable—avoid bringing family or partners. Only one Nepali worker was decent.

The location on the river is great, but accessing the rooms is terrible—you have to lug luggage down the stairs. Dinner isn’t available there, breakfast is very basic, staff keep returning to the room and disturb guests multiple times, and there’s no heating.

The staff were excellent, and the dinners they prepared were amazing. The riverside location was also very pleasant and relaxing.

The rooms were spotless and cozy, and I enjoyed the constant, soothing sound of the Lidder River.

Worst and pathetic experience ever—don’t ever go there or you’ll regret it badly. The staff were rude and the service was at another level of bad. Everything about River Retreat is horrible and a true nightmare.
