Fantastically well maintained old hotel with beautiful wooden panelling, polished floors and exceptionally helpful staff. The rooms themselves are basic but very clean, though a few simple touches could have made them a bit more appealing to the 21st century guest, without losing their colonial charm. The food was really good, both the buffet and set menu. Despite booking a deluxe double room, we were allocated a twin that didn't march the original description and pictures. We'd also messaged about the second room being a triple single, but that was a double with single. However, the manager was helpful and tried hard to address these issues
I couldn’t wish for a better place to stay.
“A Missed Opportunity for Cultural Immersion at the Bandarawela Hotel”
My recent stay at the Bandarawela hotel left me feeling a bit underwhelmed, particularly when it came to the dining experience. While the hotel's location and amenities were great, the lack of authentic Sri Lankan cuisine on the menu was a major letdown. I had been looking forward to trying traditional dishes like rice and curry, hoppers with coconut milk, and Kotthu roti, but unfortunately, these options were scarce.
The hotel’s charm is undeniable, the service is excellent, and the cleanliness of the linens and towels is superb. Thanks to the hotel team! The only thing that needs attention is the plumbing; some of the faucets in certain rooms are quite old. It’s the little details that make all the difference!
“A Decent Stay with Some Trade-Offs”
I recently had a stay at this hotel and had mixed feelings about my experience. On the one hand, I was impressed by the hotel's comfortable and clean rooms, which made for a great place to rest after a long day. However, I was a bit disappointed with the hotel's location, which made it difficult to get around without a car. Despite this, I would still consider staying here again in the future.
