The buffet, room size, balcony, tranquility, ability to darken the room, quality bedding, and proximity to the city center are all positives. The bathroom is old-fashioned, the interior kitschy, the TV has no French channels even though the border is only 20 km away, and there’s a slight disappointment with the buffet, although it is otherwise generous, with industrial bread instead of the bread the owners bake for their tea room.

I liked the location and the breakfast quality, and it’s within walking distance of the city centre, but the rooms were small, especially the ones facing the back.

The family‑run hotel is run by a very friendly and sympathetic boss who actually bakes all the cakes herself, and the Schwarzwald cherry cake was the best I’ve ever had; every room is nicely furnished and clean, the breakfast is excellent with about ten varieties of fresh fruit daily, and the entire staff is helpful and very friendly. The hotel also has a café, and the décor is done with great attention to detail. I give it five stars. Parking is available, there’s an outdoor terrace, and with prior notice you can also get dinner. On the downside, some parts feel a bit dated and need renovation, especially the bathrooms and showers; the balcony tiles should be replaced and the glass partition on the fourth floor rooms needs updating. There is no elevator, but the staff are happy to carry luggage up; there are seating areas between floors.

The staff are friendly and accommodating, the boss is always in a good mood, and requests are fulfilled immediately, so there was no reason to complain.

Very nice rooms. Very good breakfast. The house offers homemade, very tasty cakes and various coffee variations. Very friendly and accommodating staff. We will gladly return.
