“Do not book this. Said there was no rooms after we paid and booked a month in advance”

Do not book this! I booked this property and paid for it over a month in advance; when we arrived after a very difficult journey they said the rooms were being renovated and that they don’t have any rooms. The staff were absolutely clueless and of no help. It was then very difficult to find alternative accommodation, so I had to book last minute. Do not book this! Very friendly staff. They helped us with everything we needed, especially Hender. He was always there for us—organizing taxis, ferries, motorbike rentals, asking if we needed anything—every day! We felt very welcome. The room was big and all painted white. I loved it! The bed was amazing—big and very comfortable! The toilet was also very big! The restaurant next door (Katurei) is owned by the same family, and there’s a little shop next to it. So we were all sorted! Excellent food, by the way. The accommodation was great. Just the roads were a little rough. But this is a problem of the government. Katiet is growing too fast with little or no organization or infrastructure. Every day it rains in Mentawai and the roads are very bad. Not only for tourists but for the Katiet community too. Power outages happen almost daily—quick ones! Also, many accommodations have been built and closed, limiting access to the beach. You have to walk in the mud or rent a motorbike to get around. Maybe many people don’t care, but we came here almost 20 years ago and were shocked to see how big Katiet is now. Don’t worry, you’re going to have a good time and good waves. Just come with an open mind!

We really enjoyed our stay at Noreen House; the room was clean and comfortable, and it was less than a 5‑minute walk to Lance's Right. There’s also a restaurant and a shop right next door, which is convenient. The host, Hender, helped us organise scooter rentals and taxis—highly recommend!
