The setting is comfortable, the aesthetics are great, and the photos look beautiful; the old building has a unique charm, warm and romantic. The sofa bed at the entrance makes chatting easy, the host is great, and the breakfast is good. It’s also close to the sea, so it’s nice. One improvement would be to have shampoo and body wash.

La Joya Lamu is the perfect spot to start and end your day on the wonderful island of Lamu. The breakfasts are fabulous, and Alex’s hospitality and the evenings chatting outside are delightful.

We had a great stay at Lajoya! Huge thanks to Alex, who was incredibly helpful with our activities—everything went smoothly and we felt right at home. Breakfast was delicious, and the fresh juice was the ultimate morning boost!. Our ground-floor room was a bit dark, noisy, and brought us a few too many bug bites. However, we saw the upper-floor rooms and next time we’ll definitely book one of those—they look like a complete 10/10!

La Joya is a quaint property in the middle of Shela. It’s quiet, and peaceful. Alex is lovely, and attentive to your needs. He’s always happy to arrange what you need during your stay - from laundry to boats !. It’s a bit tricky to find where the house is, but the locals are always happy to point you in the right direction. The ground floor rooms lack natural light. Perhaps include insect spray in the rooms for the mosquitoes who get underneath the net at times

Everything about La Joya is exceptional. The house is superb, a relaxing, wonderful base from which to explore the area. Alex is amazing, keeping a low profile but offering superb advice and interested in everything you say or want to do. The breakfasts were delicious. It really is a perfect place to stay for a few nights. Nothing - the place is exceptional
