The Estelar Recinto Del Pensamiento Hotel features spacious rooms with TV, seating area, and minibar, surrounded by 20 acres of gardens, water, and forests. Located 2.5 km from downtown Manizales, the hotel offers a convention centre, free Wi-Fi, restaurant, and Juan Valdez Café. Unique sites include a butterfly observatory, forest orchids, and a bamboo pavilion. The hotel is 5 minutes from the airport and allows pets.

It was supposed to be just a technical stop on our road trip from Salento to Medellín, but it turned out to be a fantastic surprise! The rooms are very spacious and the bed is incredibly comfortable. Breakfast is nothing special, yet there are two decent restaurants in the evening. The real highlight is the eco‑park surrounding the hotel—an absolute must‑see. With a two‑hour guided walk we discovered a variety of orchids, saw countless hummingbirds, a high‑altitude Japanese garden (a gift from the Japanese delegation during a visit to Colombia), and even a butterfly house. In short, it feels like sleeping in a misty forest, and that alone makes the trip worthwhile. The only downside is that breakfast, while varied, isn’t of the highest quality.

The natural setting is very pretty, but you need a guided tour to see the whole park; the service at the restaurant is slow, though the dishes are very good.
