“Raised formal complaint & offered £40, but accepted £100 eventually.”

The location was fine, but finding the rear car park was a hassle because of a one‑way system. The front of the hotel and our room faced the beach, offering lovely views, and there was a nice garden with a seating area at the front. However, the hotel looked tired. We had booked a “King Room with Sea View” that advertised a “1 large double bed (151–180cm wide)”, but the bed we received was only 137cm (54”) wide. The curtains wouldn’t close properly because both sides had come off the tracks, and we reported this issue more than two days before it was fixed. The duty manager tried to find us a king‑size bed but said the hotel was fully booked – we had already paid a £700 premium for four nights, not including breakfast. We were later told the hotel simply doesn’t have any king‑size beds. Very disappointing.

“Below par experience.”

After switching rooms, the view from the second room was good. On arrival we were given a ground‑floor room whose bathroom door wouldn’t close unless the toilet seat was up, and even then it was a close shave. We told reception that this room was inadequate and did not match the description of a deluxe double; they said we could move in about 40 minutes. The second room on the first floor was better, with a larger bathroom and a properly closing door, but the bathroom and overall cleanliness still didn’t feel up to expectations. I didn’t comment on the bar or restaurants because we chose to eat in town instead. Overall, the hotel left a bad impression; first impressions really do count. Parking spaces were limited and I would seriously question the availability of free parking when the hotel was at full capacity, though fortunately this was toward the end of the season. I would not return to this particular hotel.

“Only good thing was location to start of parkrun”

The location was spot on, but the hotel felt worn out. The bathroom was tiny, the room was very dark, and the view was just a wall. I couldn't eat dinner because a private party was happening, and I wasn't warned about it when I booked.
