“Super welcoming hosts and maybe one of the most uniquely decorated house in Japan”
The host couple were incredibly welcoming and friendly, always ready to help and making the experience feel amazing. The house stands out as one of Japan’s most uniquely decorated homes, filled with retro memorabilia from cars, comics, and movies, and its old‑style Japanese architecture gives a genuine cultural vibe. The surrounding area is very peaceful, and the Wi‑Fi speed was excellent, letting me work remotely without any hiccups. Air conditioning was available in the room, and on clear days I could see Mt. Fuji. Supermarkets near the station offer a wide variety of tasty, inexpensive food that you can eat on the spot. On the downside, the walls are thin, so conversations from neighboring rooms can be heard—this could be an issue for those working remotely, though I had noise‑blocking headphones and most other guests were quiet. The train station is a 25‑minute walk, which might feel far for some, but there’s a nearby bus stop that takes you to the station for 100 yen, and the owner also lets you borrow a bicycle if you’d rather cycle. Activities around the area are limited, giving it a countryside feel that some might find too far from central Tokyo, though Omiya, Kasukabe, and Kawagoe are closer. Japan isn’t just Tokyo, so experiencing a more rural setting when you’re ready for a break from the big city can be worthwhile.
