The hotel sits in a beautiful location inside a lovely historic building right next to the prison and museum. The room and bathroom are spacious and nice, but the lack of air conditioning made it very hot; given the historic character an AC unit is hard to install, though I think there are other ways to make the temperature more bearable.

The peace, nice room, and beautiful surroundings were great. The downside was that there were no coffee or tea facilities in the room.

The location and history of this hotel are truly unique, which is why you go there. It’s perfect for exploring Veenhuizen and the surrounding area, and the décor and ambience of the building constantly remind you of its special past—well done. The room itself could have been better styled and atmospherically set up. It was otherwise fine, with plenty of wardrobe space, large windows, comfortable beds, and even two comfy chairs. Parking was free and easy on the large lot opposite the hotel. The front‑desk staff and breakfast team were friendly. The price is relatively high for what you actually receive, aside from the location. The room and bathroom were decent but not especially luxurious or beautiful, and they weren’t spotless. The breakfast buffet in the nice restaurant was just okay; I expected more variety.

The staff and the location were good, but the room was on the second floor with no elevator, the layout was plain for a comfort room, and although breakfast was tasty it was rather limited.

The staff were very friendly and there were pretzels at breakfast, but the room required climbing 6 flights of stairs, had a simple shower with a curtain, was fine but not worth €150; the sauna that was supposedly there was gone, and coffee/tea facilities on the room would have been nice.
