Breakfast was good and plentiful. A nice birthday greeting. View of the Rhine and the Seven Hills. It was sometimes a bit noisy in the dining room.

The restaurant and bistro were very good. The experience was deeply disappointing, completely incompatible with the standards of a five‑star hotel! Unfortunately, our stay at Steigenberger ICON Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg fell far below the expectations we had for a luxury hotel, both in terms of staff professionalism and, especially, hygiene, comfort and maintenance of the facilities. We booked two rooms, but at arrival after 16:00, only one was ready. For the second we had to wait an additional 40–50 minutes. The cold, unfriendly attitude of the reception made the situation even more unpleasant. Even though we had already completed the check‑in formalities, our request to receive the key for the second room was met with indifference, without explanations or concern for our time. What particularly bothered us was the obvious contrast between the attitude towards us and the friendliness shown to other guests. I believe respect, professionalism and attention to guests should be offered equally to everyone, especially in a hotel of this category. What we found in the second room was downright revolting! In the bathroom, the toilet bowl had been used before and was not cleaned, showing clear traces of fecal matter, and even after flushing the water did not fully clear it away. It is absolutely unacceptable to receive a room in a five‑star hotel with a toilet in such conditions! Additionally, we found an insect in the sink, a dirty napkin left in the trash can, visibly unclean marble surfaces and a non‑working light bulb in the shower area. All of this indicates a serious lack of attention in the cleaning and inspection process of the rooms. Even more inexplicable is the fact that we were forced to wait longer for a room that evidently had not been properly sanitized.
