The owner was friendly, the place is close to the port, there are nibbles and refreshments to eat and drink in the room, and parking is available. It’s very convenient for what we needed and I’d use it again. Because it’s an old house with single‑pane glass windows, traffic noise is loud, the bed mattress is too hard, my partner had to sleep on the sofa bed, and the shower wouldn’t get hot and made loud grinding noises.

I was greeted by supervriendelijk staff, the room was prima and it was perfect for a single night before heading deeper into England.

The hotel’s proximity to the ferry port was great for our early‑morning departure, and the quirky, down‑to‑earth vibe was charming. Check‑in was smooth, bicycles were stored in a back room, and the antique feel of the place was enjoyable. The room was spacious, had a kettle, fridge, and we could use the downstairs dining room with a microwave and snacks, fruit, milk, etc. The proprietor was very friendly, and the pink building was easy to spot. Walking the White Cliffs of Dover National Trust footpath and seeing the old terraced houses was a highlight, as was the nearby gravel beach where we could swim. A Waitrose and an Indian restaurant were about a 10‑minute walk away. The carpet looked better in its heyday, the hotel needs a spring clean, and the building could use a revamp.

The location was spot on, just a short walk from the ferry terminal, and the snacks that were offered were a nice touch. The room, however, had a strong smell and the open window didn’t ventilate it; traffic noise was loud all night. The blanket was too small for two people, and both the sheets and blanket carried a strong air‑freshener scent that made sleeping uncomfortable.
