The owner is very friendly and speaks good English; when I mentioned heading out for dinner he offered to drive me to a nearby restaurant, which was essential because the menu was only in Japanese and the staff spoke no English. I ended up having an excellent meal. The sleeping room is spacious and the futon comfortable. It’s outside Toyama, so you’ll need to take a train for some distance, but the facilities, host, and price more than compensate for the inconvenience.

The staff are friendly and the place is quiet. It’s a bit of a walk from Namerikawa Station, which might feel far for some people, and the area gets really dark at night.
