“Pretty good place to stay. Clean, safe, comfortable with good coffee and breakfast.”
We loved the room layout, especially how the beds were separated into a semi‑private setup, and the beds were comfortable; there were two air conditioners, so the temperature was just right. Breakfast was great and the coffee was delicious. Monroe handled our check‑in and any other issues perfectly; his customer skills were spot on, and he should be the staff trainer. The hotel was overall clean, comfortable, and safe, which mattered a lot because we had a small fortune in photographic equipment—she is a photographer, and we were in Montgomery at the Coliseum for a horse event, photographing the contestants. We left the property each morning around 630 and didn’t return until about 930 or later; not once did we feel unsafe or threatened, which made the trouble worth it. I’d read many reviews of other hotels in town, most of which were not good, so this Comfort Suites Airport South hotel was just fine for our needs. Don’t be afraid to book here; overall, it was good. A small bug was found on my daughter’s pillow—definitely not a bedbug, just a tiny insect. She flipped it and we went to inspect the room; Monroe was appalled and immediately wanted to move us to another room, but we liked the one we had, so we declined. He gave us a fresh pillow. When I returned, my daughter had found hair—maybe from a dog or cat—over her bed covers (the one closest to the door) and under the bed, and the area under the beds was very dusty. The comforter looked dirty on the edge with makeup. I took all the linens downstairs to Monroe, who couldn’t believe it. He again offered to change our room, but I declined because he didn’t have another private suite available. Overall, things were okay. Monroe gave us a new linen set, we remade her bed, and everything was fine. We then went to the pool; the skimmer seemed off but there was a guy swimming in it. We noticed some grass debris and tiny pieces of styrofoam on the surface, but I got in anyway. The water smelled fine and was acceptable. The next day we learned the pool wasn’t actually “open” the day before due to maintenance. We checked it that day, and it looked inviting and clean. Too bad we didn’t get back to the property early enough to enjoy it. Pool hours shouldn’t be limited; ignorant behavior should be avoided (if you want to enjoy the pool don’t act ignorant!). We returned to the property on Friday night, popped some food in the microwave, and the microwave didn’t work. We got another one, which also didn’t work; a third one on Saturday finally worked. I’m not upset about the bug, dirty linen, dirty pool, and two broken microwaves because of how those issues were handled and quickly corrected. I would be happy with a partial refund.
