The lodging occupies several historic village buildings in Linhares da Beira, all restored to combine history and comfort. The garden is large and well maintained. The breakfast is varied and meets expectations. The pool is large with a great view, but it does not allow gradual entry (only two metal steps), the depth does not match the marking, and the water always had some dirt (insects, dust, leaves).

The location is fantastic, the village is very pretty. Despite the narrow streets, there is parking next to the hotel. The breakfast is quite good and varied, in a pleasant space overlooking the mountains. The staff are very friendly. There is a comfortable and pleasant bar room with a calm, sheltered terrace. The room and bathroom are spacious with a view of the mountains and garden, and it has air conditioning. A quick fix would be more sockets in the room; one of the window frames needed adjustment to stop scraping the floor. Access to the rooms is via a long corridor that connects the various historic buildings. To reduce the sense of distance, there could be lighting in the displays, items for sale, and possibly more paintings of the hotel’s history or other art, similar to what is seen in the bar room. The patio terrace access could be better signposted.

The building is spectacular and the gardens look like a palace, the room is large with comfy beds. Breakfast is varied and full. The staff are pleasant and attentive. The only downside is having to hunt for a dinner spot, even though the Cova da Loba restaurant the hotel recommended is really good.
