There was a paid parking garage, the shower was broken, the signage for the Thermen garage was missing, and the room was inadequate; overall there were many issues.

The staff were very friendly. However, there was mold and dampness on the ceiling in both the bedroom and the bathroom. The shower faucet was broken, the hair dryer hook was loose, the shower door was leaking, the paint was already peeling from the wall because of the mold, and there was pigeon droppings and a nest on the balcony. The room is old and urgently needs renovation.

Birkenhof Hotel enjoys a direct passage to the Poseidon Therme, which serves four hotels and therefore limits guest numbers; the spa offers an indoor thermal pool, an outdoor swimming pool, a whirlpool and a steam bath, so it’s fairly well equipped. The hotel, and essentially the whole Bad Griesbach Therme area, looks a bit dated; renovations have started and some rooms are modern, but the overall update will take a while, as the whole town’s buildings seem to have been built at the same time.

The rooms were spacious, but the spa closed at 8 pm and so did the restaurant, which was inconvenient since we only arrived at 5 pm, leaving us no chance to use the thermal baths.
