“For the price I was disappointed”
The view was great. A mouse and all the noises from downstairs kept me up.

The peace, quiet, and view were good, but that didn’t beat the mice, droppings, and everything else. My studio had mice, eeww!!! Everything seemed fine… until I turned off the light. Every time I did, soon after I heard ruffling, scratching movements (carpet?, curtain?, bottom of bed? …but very, very close). From 7.45 pm, after traveling until about 9.50 pm, until I couldn’t take it any longer. I tried to find them but couldn’t. Even though the space was small. I rang the app contact number for the booking, spoke with a man, told him my problem. He said he would send someone, which he did about 10–15 minutes later. A lady came to my door, I told her I couldn’t sleep because of the shuffling and that I was scared it might crawl on me or my belongings. It was late but I was wondering if it was real. I couldn’t find the brute(s). She offered me the next‑door studio since it was vacant. She opened the door, turned on the light… we went in. It looked fine but had a mouse odor. The first studio didn’t smell, I’ll give them that. I said I was too tired to move all my gear, hence my traveling and the time… She said leave them there till the morning (so the mice could crawl all over my stuff?) … Then she left. That was it. Anyway, I got my stuff, was starting to move them to the second studio next door. Halfway through, it didn’t feel good. I turned on the light in the bathroom, then the kitchenette. BINGO, OH NOOO. Mice droppings on the bench in the kitchenette. That confirmed the smell. Ah ah, no way. Then, I started moving my stuff back to the first studio (the booked online one). I sat outside on the balcony at the little round table, looking at the beautiful maunga. It was cold, in my pj’s. I looked back at the studio room, “I can’t sleep in there”, flowers scurrying, cords moving… definitely can’t sleep in the other offer… it’s late, I’m tired, what the heck???

The town of Ohakune is pleasant to visit, but the unit felt a bit dated.

The bed was comfortable and the place was relatively clean, but the interior ambiance wasn't polished and could use a refresh; the layout feels like it was designed 30 years ago. The biggest annoyance was the confusing address, which is wrong and places the accommodation 500 m off the main road according to Maps, yet in reality it sits right on the road with trucks passing all night. With Route 1 partially closed, traffic was probably even heavier. I would never have rented this place if I had known this.

The view was great, but the traffic was busy and noisy, the smell was awful, and trash from the previous stay was left behind. I went to the address listed on the website, but no building existed there. The room I ended up in was totally different from the picture, though it still offered a great view.
