“Beautiful- the lyrebird was a highlight”

Waking up to the sound of whipbirds singing while I was in the shower was a real treat, but the compost toilet would occasionally let out a nasty smell. I also spent a good minute hunting for the light switches because they’re not exactly obvious. All in all, a quirky spot with a few annoyances.

“The perfect rustic cabin, with every detail thought out, in the most magic bushland setting”

This cabin is exactly the kind of escape you dream about – tucked in a magical bushland that seems to hum with its own soundtrack. Inside, the décor and the stash of books felt instantly welcoming, and the fresh eggs and chocolate in the pantry were a nice touch. We wandered the grounds as blossoms fell around us, soaking up the colors of the forest and the twisted trees. I could have stayed forever and will definitely be back.

The place sits in a quiet corner that lets you truly switch off, and the host left fresh eggs, butter, ground coffee and milk – breakfast was a breeze. A short 15‑minute drive gets you to shops and restaurants, so grabbing supplies or heading out for a meal is easy. Just watch the road at night; wombats love to pop out of nowhere. The Bluetooth speaker and the handy guidebook for walks made evenings fun, and the owner was a joy to deal with.
