The Carmel Resort Inn features early 1900 cottages on 1.5 acres with gardens, 5 minutes' walk from Cherry Center for the Arts. Each cottage includes a TV, coffee machine, and unique floor plan. Free parking and WiFi are available. BBQ facilities, Monterey Bay Boat Charters, and attractions like Monterey Bay Aquarium and Old Fisherman's Wharf are nearby.

The room was clean, the staff friendly, the bed comfy, and the area was quiet; parking was a bonus. The downside was the lighting: the ceiling lamp was a harsh white that made us feel like we were in an office, and there was only one nightstand on one side of the bed with no lamp because the outlet was blocked by the backboard of the bed, so the first night felt far from cozy. I had to leave the bed to switch off the bright light, but the receptionist fixed it the next morning by providing a second nightstand on the other side of the bed and a lamp that could plug in. For the price I paid, I expected at least a basic hotel setup with a nightstand and lamp on each side of the bed. Aside from that, the staff were helpful and I liked the outdoor seating area by our cottage.

The place was very nice, the parking next to the cottage was convenient, but the cleaning could be improved.
