The cottage was completely immersed in nature, very beautiful, well‑kept, and had every comfort. During our stay there were no other guests, so we had the house all to ourselves. The girls who run the place are two sisters who live right next door and were extremely kind and ready to meet every need. They organized fantastic treks and cooked abundant, delicious dinners, lunches, and breakfasts. We felt truly at home, and everything was wonderful—nothing to add.

The location is great—fully isolated right next to the Knuckles Forest Reserve. The staff were always helpful, present whenever needed, and even let us book tours in the area through their contacts—an organized option. The cottage itself was well designed, with beautifully decorated common spaces that made us feel at home. The owner doesn’t live in Sri Lanka, so when we arrived we shared the cottage with her and her family, though we had our own private room and bathroom. The main issue was food: we ate together, and if we weren’t available for a meal, dinner would come out at room temperature, which wasn’t ideal. For both breakfast and dinner, if we weren’t all together, leftovers were left for us—always enough, but if we wanted more, we couldn’t get it. Since dinner wasn’t included in the price, we felt we should choose what we wanted instead of having whatever was predetermined.

My girlfriend and I loved Pepper Cottage because it felt like home. It’s a truly family‑oriented homestay with shared dinners and breakfasts daily. The rooms and facilities were super nice and clean. The only downside was that it was a bit hard to find on the road.

Pepper Cottage is beautiful and well maintained. The location is stunning and peaceful, a great spot for exploring the Knuckles and close to Kandy. The hosts take care of you so well that we want to return.
