““Not as Advertised, but Staff Tried Their Best””
The staff were friendly, but the operational failures and misleading listing ruined the experience. We arrived around 15:00 and no one was there to check us in; the owner hadn’t passed our booking to the staff even though we’d booked on 24 January 2026, causing confusion and delays. Our room wasn’t ready at check‑in, and we were first asked to move to a different room. We specifically chose this room because it accommodates dogs and has a bath instead of a shower, so that wasn’t suitable. After explaining the situation—including a long 3‑hour drive with sick dogs—we had to wait another hour for the room to be ready. The advertised air conditioning was missing; only a portable unit was given later that evening. The TV didn’t work normally—it required screen casting from a phone and had no standard channels. Noise from a nearby pump and tank system kept us awake, with the pump running as late as 2 am and again around 5 am. Because of all this, we left a day early. The staff were friendly and tried to help, but the lack of preparation, inaccurate listing details, and ongoing disturbances made the stay disappointing.
I was slapped with a R500 fine for smoking in the room, which I didn't even do. The irony is that the room had a balcony where I could've smoked, but I didn't know that at the time. The hotel's strict no-smoking policy is understandable, but the way they handled the situation left a sour taste in my mouth.
