“Great stay! Beautiful hotel”
Love this place! I always come back. I wish they would fix the sliding door in the bathrooms for better privacy.

San Jose feels like home to us. We’ve been there before, and each time we notice how well the hotel is maintained. The place is truly “instagrammable,” not fancy but beautiful vintage and a green spot on the coolest block in Austin, at South Congress (SoCo).

The location and overall charm are nice. Laundry bins were placed outside our room, and the shower had a slippery tub.

Parking fees weren’t mentioned up front, and there were mosquitoes buzzing around in the room.

The parking was a plus, but the stay was awful. The fridge in our room kept making a loud, lawn‑mower‑like noise for at least 20 minutes, and it happened 3–4 times during the night, waking us up each time so we couldn’t sleep at all. It was a terrible experience, and I would have switched hotels immediately if we had stayed longer than one night in Austin. When I walked up to reception and told them my room number, the receptionist already said, “oh the loud refrigerator?” before I even voiced my complaint, indicating it’s a known issue they refuse to fix. It was 5 am and he told me to call in the morning and work something out. Also, if your room is near the street you’ll hear loud music playing late into the night—this was a Monday night. The bathroom windows face the parking lot; even though they’re frosted, headlights from every car that parks and leaves shine into the space. No curtains on any windows, and the blinds facing the public courtyard/walkway don’t feel private. I’ve stayed at cheaper motels that at least provide curtains. The bathroom is bare bones, with no water pressure and a shower that’s either extremely hot or cold, with no middle ground.
